The Vancouver Stock Exchange is the leading venture capital market in the world.
Peter Brown, Murray Pezim and Adnan Kashoggi are some of the VSE's biggest players. Ever since its first promoter, Alvo Von Alvensleben, made (and lost) $25 million between 1907 and 1913, the VSE has attracted a notorious collection of schemers and dreamers.
The lamb is the average investor who is repeatedly shorn by the stock promoters. The VSE has made a fine art of 'shearing' - investors in the VSE lose some of their money 84% of the time and all of it 40% of the time. As little as ten cents out of every dollar the lamb invests actually makes its way to the intended company; instead it is rerouted into the pockets of brokers, promoters and insiders. A high rate of risk and unfavourable odds are intrinsic to a speculative market, an equitable set of circumstances if investors are playing the same game as everyone else. Fleecing the Lamb is about that game the investor doesn't know about.
